It was like being in a horror movie.
It was a full moon and my wife and I where were coming back from a funeral. It was getting late and we saw a hotel off the side of the highway in the distance. There was nothing around as we drove up a dark dismal road leading up to the Days Inn. That was when the nightmare began.

This is by far worst hotel I’ve ever stepped foot in (and in my younger carefree days I stayed in some pretty cheap motels). The Board of Health should shut them down. We were there less than 20 minutes & it still gives me the creeps thinking about it.

We checked in, very tired from travelling; when we went to the room my wife pulled the covers off the bed & all the sheets came off. The sheets didn’t fit the bed & you could see the mattress… She said some unkind words & re-made the bed – the sheets looked relatively clean, and we had our own pillows, so I thought it would be okay, we just wanted a few hours sleep before hitting the road again. I looked in the bathroom & it got worse at every turnfirst the shower was disgusting, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in yearsokay, so we won’t take a showerthen the walls! There were several spots of disgusting goo near the floor & there was actually a piece of toilet paper stuck on the wallI come see that my wife was already planning her escape when I screamed we have to get out NOW!!! There were spiders covering the wall!!! Everywhere!!!! I quickly counted 17 of them & she saw a couple more. Those were only the ones in plain sight. Luckily we got our money back & didn’t stop until we reached Georgia at 1:30 in the morning (the heebee jeebies kept us awake for the extra drive).

Like others we thought the Day’s Inn was a decent chain, and it had a AAA symbol. I wish we’d seen these reviews before setting foot in that pitreading them now is like a needed support group….

Remember the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt: Okay! So the only thigns we have to fear are spiders, snakes, WEREWOLVES, sharks, dying alone, zombies, clowns, heights, big dogs, robots with human brains, Johnson's wife, AND fear itself! I would add this Days Inn to that list.

Be afraid, be very afraid!

The Hotel Uni is a modern 3 storey block building (no lift) right on the waterside of Lake Balaton, first built in the 1970's communist era as the holiday home for the Technical University of the Budapest. It is still reputedly owned by the University, but has been leased to a number operators since then - most recently to some scientologists, apparently. The rooms and bathrooms are adequate, but rather small, and the furniture and fittings are a bit tired, but still perfectly adequate for a holiday hotel. The rooms on the western side all have balconies overlooking the park and the lake, those on the eastern side only have huge windows. There is some refurbishment going on, but even so the rooms are perfectly acceptable for a summer holiday. The greatest asset of the hotel is its location - in a beautiful lakeside park, right on the waterfront, with direct access to the warm and limpid waters of Lake Balaton. The hotel is also within direct walking distance to all the attractions, restaurants and entertainments of Balatonfured, one of the most beautiful and historic lakeside towns on Lake Balaton. There is a good breakfast buffet, and the hotel restaurant serves lunch and dinner as well. There are bicycles for hire, and there is a wonderful lakeside cycle path you can take to Tihany, or in the opposite direction. One word of warning though: there is a large marina and sailing club also located in the hotel, and many of the nouveau rich members of the Hungarian sailing community are not characterized by excessive good manners and refinement in my experience. They can be noisy, unpleasant, aggressive and in large groups they behave as if they owned the place (if not the world!), making it quite unpleasant for other hotel guests. Overall, a pleasant and very well located holiday hotel - when the boorish sailors are away...

HAVE TO:
I don't believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.
To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don't isolate.
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

DON'T HAVE TO:
Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don't isolate.

MUST

MUSTN'T
You're only given one little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

One mustn't ask apple trees for oranges, France for sun, women for love, life for happiness.

Stupidity is also a gift of God, but one mustn't misuse it.
